Successful Launch and Sea Trials of ASD Tug 2813 for Global Port Authority
Oman Shipyard is pleased to announce the successful handover of a newbuild ASD Tug 2813 to a major Middle East port authority following completion of rigorous sea acceptance trials (SAT). The vessel, built under Lloyd's Register classification, represents the latest in high-performance terminal tug design. Engineered for maximum safety and manoeuvrability, the tug features an overall length of 28 metres, a moulded breadth of 13 metres, and is powered by twin medium-speed diesel engines producing a combined 5,000 kW, achieving a certified bollard pull of 80 tonnes.
The vessel is equipped with advanced fire-fighting capabilities (FiFi 1 classification), automated deck winches, and an oil recovery system. During sea trials in the Arabian Gulf, the tug exceeded all contract speed and maneuverability parameters. This delivery reinforces Oman Shipyard's position as a leading global builder of specialized harbour craft.

Complex Drydock Refit Completed on 85m Offshore Support Vessel ahead of Schedule
Our Dubai Drydock Division has successfully completed a fast-tracked intermediate survey and refit of an 85-metre platform supply vessel (PSV) for an international oil major. The comprehensive docking scope was completed in just 12 days — two days ahead of the contract schedule — allowing the operator to resume its offshore charter operations without delay.
The repair scope included high-pressure hydro-blasting and anti-fouling hull coating, tailshaft withdrawal with wear inspections, propeller shaft seal replacement, rudder clearance measurements, and the overhaul of two main engine turbochargers. Additionally, our steel shop replaced 15 tonnes of structural steel inside the ballast tanks, and the piping division fabricated and installed 60 metres of fresh cooling-water pipes. The project's success is attributed to our PMO's strict workflow planning and 24/7 labor mobilization.

Oman Shipyard Celebrates 5 Million Man-Hours LTI Free Milestone
We are proud to announce that Oman Shipyard has reached a major safety milestone, recording 5 million consecutive man-hours without a Lost Time Injury (LTI) across our yards in Dubai, Sharjah, and Fujairah. This achievement reflects our team's continuous commitment to safety protocols and the successful implementation of our ISO 45001:2018 certified occupational health and safety management system.
HSEQ Director remarked, 'Reaching 5 million man-hours LTI-free is a testament to the safety culture embedded in our workforce. Every employee, from our welding shops to our drydock cranes, understands that safety takes precedence over speed. We want to thank our entire team for their dedication to ensuring that every worker returns home safely at the end of their shift.'
