Underwater & Diving Services

Professional subsea engineering, inspection, and maintenance solutions certified to global standards

In-Water Marine Operations & Subsea Engineering

Oman Shipyard's dedicated Underwater and Diving Services division provides around-the-clock, rapid-response subsea engineering support for vessel owners and operators. Based strategically in Dubai, Sharjah, Fujairah, and Salalah, our dive teams can deploy instantly to major commercial ports, offshore terminals, and deep-water anchorage positions. We operate under strict safety guidelines aligned with the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) and the Association of Diving Contractors International (ADCI).

We are fully certified by all major international classification societies — including Lloyd's Register (LR), American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), Det Norske Veritas (DNV), Bureau Veritas (BV), ClassNK, and RINA — to perform comprehensive In-Water Surveys in Lieu of Drydocking (UWILD) and In-Water Surveys (IWS). This allows operators to satisfy classification requirements while their vessels remain afloat, minimizing out-of-service time and avoiding costly drydock cycles.

Every commercial diver on our team is highly trained, certified, and equipped with state-of-the-art closed-circuit diving gear, surface-supplied air systems, and hydraulic underwater tools. Our dive support vessels (DSVs) are fully integrated with real-time CCTV monitoring and surface-to-diver communications, allowing owners and surveyors to view operations live.

Subsea Capabilities & Maintenance

Our underwater operations cover a complete spectrum of preventative maintenance, structural inspection, and emergency repairs:

  • UWILD & Class Inspections: Certified close-up high-definition CCTV inspections, non-destructive testing (NDT), ultrasonic thickness (UT) measurements, magnetic particle inspections (MPI), and cathodic protection readings.
  • Eco-Friendly Hull Cleaning: Utilising advanced multi-brush hydraulic cleaning systems designed to remove heavy biofouling, barnacles, and tube worms without damaging the underlying anti-fouling paint. We employ debris collection systems to comply with international environmental regulations.
  • Propeller Polishing: Ultra-polishing of propeller blades using specialized flexible abrasive discs to achieve a surface finish matching Rupert Scale Grade A. Regular polishing reduces drag, boosts vessel speed, and improves fuel economy by up to 5% to 8%.
  • Subsea Repairs & Welding: Class-approved underwater wet welding of structural steel, temporary and permanent cofferdam installations, sea chest blanking/plugging for afloat valve maintenance, propeller blade cropping, and anode replacement.
  • Sea Chest & Bow Thruster Maintenance: High-pressure hydro-cleaning of sea chest grates, internal structural inspections, bow thruster tunnel cleaning, and gear housing seal checks.
